3011 - Employee Social Security Numbers

Nebraska law prohibits employers from using or publishing an employee's social security number except under certain specific circumstances. It shall be the ESU policy to comply with this law and to take reasonable steps to protect the confidentiality of employees' social security numbers. However, neither state law nor this policy prohibits the ESU from using the last four digits of an employee's social security number as an employee identification number or in any other reasonable manner.
