2019 - Relationship with Attorney

The Board ("board") of Educational Service Unit No. 4 (the "ESU") shall choose an attorney to assist it and the administration in dealing with legal issues.

The administrator and the board president shall have the authority to contact the ESU's attorney on behalf of the ESU. The administrator may give other members of the administration permission to contact the attorney on an as-needed basis. Individual board members, other than the president, may not contact the ESU's attorney on behalf of the board without the approval of a majority of the board. Any board member who contacts the ESU's attorney without board approval may be personally responsible for any legal fees incurred as a result of the contact.

The administrator will, to the extent permitted by law, keep the board informed of matters in which the attorney is involved.
